A STUDY OF EXTENT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOEOGY RESOURCES UTILIZATION IN LEARNING OF MATHEMATICS AMONGST SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN OSUN STATE

The study determined the extent of students' use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the learning of mathematics in senior secondary schools in Osun state. It also investigated the influence of ICT use on senior secondary school students' academic performance in mathematics and examined gender effects on senior secondary school students ICT utilization in the learning of mathematics. This was with an ultimate intention of examining the use of ICT in the teaching and learning of mathematics among senior secondary school students. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprisedof all senior secondary school (SSS) two students in Osun State, Nigeria. The sample size consisted of 316 students. A multi¬

indings from the study revealed that the extent of ICT use in the teaching and learning of Mathematics among senior secondary school students was moderate, 53.2%. Also, there was no significant difference in academic performance of students in who use ICT for learning and those who do not. There was no significant difference between male and female secondary school students in their utilization of ICT for learning mathematics. The paper concluded the students moderately used ICT in learning Mathematics as such, there was no significant difference between those who used and students who do not. Likewise, there was no significant gender difference does not exist between male and female students’ use of ICT resources for learning the subject. The study concluded that adequate ICT resources should be available in schools to promote effective learning of mathematics in Nigerian secondary school classrooms.
